Son, Father & Grandfather- Michael B. McCleary, 52, of 331 Front Street, Boyne City, passed away at 10:10 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2003 at Northern Michigan Hospital, Petoskey- the result of diabetic complications.

Michael Bruce McCleary was born December 20, 1950 in Boyne City, Michigan- the son of Roy A. and Caroline M. Lemons McCleary. He attended school in Boyne City, Michigan where he graduated from Boyne City High School in 1969. On June 24, 1972, Mike was united in marriage with the former Terri L. Tompkins and to this union two children were born. He was later married to Linda Mania Talboys. Mike was single at the time of his death.

For many years Mike owned and operated Great Lakes Maintenance- a cleaning service that catered to businesses in a multi-county area. Mike also had a life-long interest in classic cars, music and was an avid reader. He also took pride in the building of, and finish carpentry work in his three homes- all in the Boyne City area. At the time of his death, Mike was employed with Advance Electric in Gaylord, Michigan.

Surviving the deceased are his mother, Caroline M. McCleary, Boyne City; two sons and their families, Christopher M. (Erika) McCleary and daughter Riley; and Shawn M. (Natalie) McCleary and children, Isaiah and Alexis, all of Wyoming, Michigan; a brother, Patrick S. McCleary, Petoskey and many friends and extended family members. Michael was preceeded in death by his father, Roy A. McCleary; sister, Judith A. McCleary; his maternal Grandparents, Stephen J. and Mary E. Lorentz Lemons and his Paternal grandparents, Alfred H. Colley and Fannie M. Parmelee McCleary.

A memorial service will be held at Stackus Funeral Home on Friday, February 21, 2003 at 3:00 PM, officiated by Reverend Robert Faulman of the First Presbyterian Church, Boyne City. Following cremation, the remains will be scattered as Mike had requested and at the family's plot in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Boyne City.

Those wishing to make contributions as an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Diabetes Association.

We desire to express our sincere thanks to the many friends, neighbors, co-workers and other individuals from throughout the Boyne City community and vicinity, who so kindly assisted us in so many ways after the recent death of our son, father, grandfather and brother, Mike McCleary. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to those who provided meals and food, floral tributes both before and at the memorial service, and for the many kind acts and words of sympathy, which we have received throughout the week. We especially wish to thank Reverend Robert Faulman for his words of comfort, the Boyne City Ambulance Crew, and to Mr. David Beek of Stackus Funeral Home, and Jack and Marty McLeod of Boyne Avenue Greenhouse for their wonderful attention to detail.

Heartfelt Sympathies go out to the family and friends of Michael McCleary and Theresa Gentile, both well-known Boyne City residents who passed away this past week, and also for long time resident Margie Elzinga, who passed away over the weekend.

Shawn and Natalie McCleary; Chris and Ericka McCleary with daughter, Riley and Patrick McCleary were all in town over the weekend and into the week due to the death of father and brother Mike McCleary which occurred on Saturday, February 15. Other family members were expected to arrive later in the week from the southern part of the state.
