Birth: Feb. 28, 1859
Fenelon Falls
Ontario, Canada
Death: Nov. 16, 1933
Ontario, Canada

Alice I. Morrow Colley was the daughter of Joseph and Anna Maria Truax Morrow. She was first married to Benjamin W. Wells on March 29, 1885 at Saginaw, Saginaw County, Michigan. The couple had one daughter, Eva Wells. After Mr. Wells' death on June 6, 1903 at Mason, Ingham County, Michigan, Alice married a second time to Alfred William Colley- son of Edward G. and Mary J. Blackman Colley. Alice met Alfred Colley through her sister, Effie Morrow Colley, who was married to Alfred's brother, John F. Colley. Alfred, a widower, had three children from his first wife, which Alice became mother to and raised. The family resided in several locations due to Alfred's business dealings, but eventually settle in Seattle, King County, Washington. Alfred died in that location on December 16, 1925. Sometime after his death, Alice returned to Canada where she eventually made her home in Toronto, Ontario near several of her nieces and nephews- children of her numerous sisters. It was there that she died in 1933. Sadly, she is buried next to neither of her husbands.

One of the fashionable weddings of the week in Lansing was that of Mrs. Benjamin M. Wells of this city and Mr. Alfred W. Colley of Coldwater, Ontario. Mr. Colley is well known in Detroit, Cleveland and Toronto being successfully connected in Coldwater and elsewhere with lumbering and other business enterprises. The bride is well and popularly known in Lansing and also in Chicago where the late Mr. Wells was associated with the United States Gypsum Company. The marriage was quietly celebrated at the home of the bride on Monday the 18th inst. at 809 Cedar Street, the ceremony being performed by Reverend J.A. Schaad. Mr. and Mrs. Colley are making an extended visit to eastern cities and on their return will reside in Coldwater, Canada, at the fine new home of the groom.
Note: There is also a second memorial for Alice Morrow Wells-Colley on the Find-A-Grave site (#54995906). At the time of Alice's first husband's death, her intention was apparently to be buried next to him after her own death. This was not done however. Alice's death record and cemetery records in Toronto, Ontario, Canada confirm that her body was never returned to either Michigan or Washington State for burial, but remained in Toronto.
