He mustered-1n with Troop C, Squadron A Cavalry for service on the Mexican border, June 30, 1916. Squadron a Cavalry was stations at Camp McAllen, Texas, with the New York Division. July 7, 1917 he was transferred to Troop D, Squadron A Cavalry. Squadron A Cavalry returned to New York City, December 23, 1916 and he was mustered out of border service, December 28, 1916.
World War 1, believed he served in Squadron A Cavalry, New York Guard, being discharged December 24, 1917. He than enlisted in the 1st Field Artillery, New York Guard, and commissioned 1st Lieutenant, August 2, 1918. He served in Headquarters, D, & E Batteries. Discharged Jan. 22, 1919.
