COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Mother Annie Ruth Reed Starkes , 84, will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Refuge House of Prayer Church, 311 Lexington Street, West Columbia, with burial in Palmetto Cemetery. Mother Starkes will be placed in the church beginning at 12:00 p.m. Viewing will be held from 1-9 p.m. today at McCollom-Myers Mortuary, 5003 Rhett Ave, Columbia.
Mother Starkes was born in Swansea, SC, June 16, 1925. She was the wife of Damon Starkes and daughter of the late Lucius and Mattie Lee Brooker.
God called her home on Wednesday, December 16, 2009.
Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her husband of 67 years, Damon Starkes, her children, Isabell Mitchell, Columbia SC, Col. (Sheldon D. (Elaine) Starkes Sr., USAF (Ret.), Montclair, VA, Col.
