Johnnie Barnes, 73, of Bedford, died at 4:08 pm on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at her residence.

Born April 16, 1940 in Friars Point, MS, she was the daughter of John and Jessie (Bell) Barnes. She retired from General Motors and was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Bedford.

Survivors include three sons, Kurt and Kent Barnes both of Bedford, Ivory Barnes of St. Louis, MO; two sisters, Bessie Barnes and Maxine Jenkins both St. Louis, MO; a step-sister, Dorothy Blair of Bedford; six step-brothers,
Tommy and Sammy both of Bedford, booker, Rev. Burton and Billy all of Blytheville, AR and Rev. Oliver of Atlanta; eighteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, John Barnes; two sisters, Charlene Thomas and Ruthie May Walton; a brother, Eddie Lee Barnes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am on Saturday, March 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Mitchell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 am until the hour of service on Saturday, March 15th at Day & Carter Mortuary.

Pallbearers are: Kurt Barnes, Kent Barnes, Melvin Lilard, Eddie Barnes, Eugene Barnes, Steve Furlow, Clifford Smith and Sammy Furlow.
