DEATH OF DAVID PURNELL.
Aged Man Passed" Away Last Friday
on Bank Street."
Daniel David Purnell died at the-home of
his daughter, "Mrs. E. R,-Amster, on
Bank Street, last Friday morning,-after
an Illness of several weeks.
Mr. Purnell had been a resident of
Smethport for several years and during
his residence here 'made hosts of
warm personal friends who will
iburn his demise. Mr. Purnell was
man of unusually fine qualities.'. He
was a devout member of the. Methodist-
-church and-was an Odd Fellow,
being a Christian gentleman whose acquaintance
was a privilege.
Daniel and his younger brother Issac lived next door to each other on the 1870 Mahanoy, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania Census.

Daniel and his wife Mary are both buried on the lot (Section 3, Lot #188), and the grave was also demarkated by a GAR veteran marker. Daniel didn't come to the United States until about 1867 which was after the Civil War. This marker is an error.
