COOPERSTOWN - Robert Bailey, 77, formerly of Pine Boulevard, Cooperstown, died Sept. 26, 1988, at The Meadows, Cooperstown RD.
He was born May 19, 1911, in Cooperstown, the son of Fred and Florence (Ingalls) Bailey.
A lifelong area resident, he was a 1930 graduate of Cooperstown High School and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a typesetter for the Freeman's Journal, Cooperstown, for many years, and was later a letter carrier and clerk at the Coopersrown post office for many years, retiring in 1973. He was amember of the First Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown, a life member of Clark F. Simmons American Legion Post 579, Cooperstown. He was formerly active in area bowling and golf leagues.
Seven nephews, three nieces and several cousins survive.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown by the pastor, the Rev. Robert E. Herst.
There will be no calling hours.
