Mary Ann [Kane] Buckley was born in County Cork, Ireland in 1815. She married John Buckley, Jr. [1817-1887] there and they immigrated to the United States in 1862. After that time, they were in Ripley County into the 1880s, Mary coming to Tippecanoe County to live near her daughter Hannah, after John Buckley died in Ripley County. Mary remarried a Fitzgibbons for a short period, who also preceded her in death. Mary had five known children; Daniel, Edward, John III, Hannah, Catherine. According to an obit published in the local Courier, Mary died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nicholas (Hannah) Prass at 10 o'clock in the evening, after having been an invalid for some time. Mary was described as an earnest member of St. Boniface Church, and a most worthy woman.
