She was the daughter of Samuel and Martha Allen Mott. Her parents moved from Tisbury, Dukes, MA to Goshen, MA abt. 1781. She was a twin; her brother, James, became a doctor.
She married Pierce Chase on July 12, 1807, in Greenfield. They had four sons: Joseph and Samuel (twins) born May 19, 1808,
James Allen born July 15, 1815, and
Lyman born May 16, 1817.
