Obituary for Lawrence "Chick" Alleman
April 6, 1938 - September 12, 2009


Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Catholic Church in Duson for Lawrence Alleman, 71, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.Interment will be in the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Cemetery in Mire.Reverend Louis Allen Breaux, Associate Pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in Scott, will be the Celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Valarie Andrus, organist and soloist, will sing "Amazing Grace", "Isaiah 49", "On Eagles Wings", and "Wind Beneath My Wings" for the services. Survivors include three sisters, Laura Alleman and her husband Adam Joseph; Dorothy Baudoin and her husband Lennis and Delta Alleman; three brothers, Dalton Alleman and his wife Bernadette, Raymond Alleman and Chester Alleman and Audrey; and nieces and nephews, Norman Alleman, Marshall Alleman, Becky Alleman Cormier, Donna Alleman Labbe, Gerald Alleman, Cynthia Alleman Stevens, Perry Alleman, Terry Alleman, Marshall Alleman, Ida Alleman Vidrine, Christine Alleman Ritchey, Annie Mae Alleman, Teena Alleman Romero, Steven Blake Alleman, Linke Alleman, Burke Alleman, Monica Baudoin Carpenter, Dawn Alleman Irwin, Paula Alleman and Matthew Alleman.He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshal and Anna Mae Hebert Alleman; one brother, Norman Alleman; and one nephew, Jerome Alleman. A lifelong resident of Lafayette Parish, Lawrence Alleman enjoyed frogging and riding horses. He loved cajun music and playing the harmonica. Lawrence had a unique talent for giving everyone a special "nickname" and enjoyed telling stories about old times. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.Pallbearers will be Dalton Alleman, Burke Alleman, William Romero, Matthew Alleman, Linke Alleman and Lennis Baudoin.A Rosary will be prayed Sunday, September 13, 2009 at 7:00 PM in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church Hall. The family requests that visitation be observed at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church Hall in Duson on Sunday from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and on Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
