Shirley Gaebler,73, passed away in a Vernon, Texas nursing home on March 5, 2009. Shirley was born on November 3, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan. She met Robert Max Gaebler when he was stationed there in the Army. They married and made their home in the Five-In-One Community on the Gaebler homeplace. Shirley was a hard-working woman who enjoyed her yard and her purple martins. She loved animals and worked for Dr. Doug Matthews for a number of years in his vet clinic. She was working for the City of Vernon until illness forced her into retirement. Shirley and Max were quite a pair and spent thousands of hours building a beautiful home and garden area. She is survived by one son, Robert Lee Gaebler of Vernon, Texas; two grandchildren, Bobby and Dixie and two great-grandchildren. Shirley was cremated and her ashes were scattered with her husband Max on the land they worked and loved.
