Peggy Carpenter,70, passed away November 25, 1990 in a Wichita Falls, Texas hospital. She was born July 3, 1920 in Dayton, Ohio to Bob and Margaret Brown. She married Cecil Carpenter August 17, 1936 in Richmond, Indiana. She and her husband, the late Cecil Carpenter owned and operated Carpenter's Grocery and Station in Thalia, Texas for 30 years. They also operated the post office and the water company. Peggy was active in many civic organizations and was a founding member and first president of the Women's Service League in Crowell, Texas. Peggy was an organizer and a doer and she and her husband were the heart and soul of the Thalia Community. Peggy was one incredible lady: independent, strong, smart and hardworking. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother and a wonderful friend. She is survived by 3 sons, David of Wichita Falls, Texas; Gary Allen (Boob) of Valley View, Texas and Tommy of Denton, Texas; one daughter, Mary Sue Adkins of Crowell, Texas; one brother, Mike Brown of Dayton,Ohio, 9 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, a son George Robert, her parents and one granddaughter.
