Maudie Baker

Maudie P. Baker, Lansing, passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2005.

She was born the daughter of George W. and Ruby J. (Jones) Campbell on June 21, 1929 in Harrisburg, Mo.

She married James A. Baker on July 27, 1949 in Booneville, Mo. He passed away June 29, 1981.

Maudie retired from Hallmark where she worked as a machine operator for 35 years.

She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Red Hat Club, and a former member of the VFW Auxiliary.

Maudie was very proud that after retiring from Hallmark, she went back to school in 1995 and earned her high school diploma.

She enjoyed bowling and collecting dolls, playing cards with her friends, and Happy Hour at Twin Oaks. Maudie loved spending time with her family and she will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her sons, James A. Baker Jr., Leavenworth, Joseph Baker and wife Kathy, Lansing; daughter, Peggi Baker Englehart and husband Phil, Kansas City, Kan.; sister, Virginia Jones; brothers, Stanley Campbell, Vaughn Campbell, and Harvey Campbell; and seven grandchildren, Jessica Oertel, Nathaniel Baker, Abe Englehart, Zachary Baker, Jacob Englehart, Todd Dominick, and Jennie Harmon.

Her parents, husband, James, and eight brothers and sisters all preceded her in death.

A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Dec. 19, 2005 at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel, 500 Oak St., Leavenworth, (913) 682-1614.

Services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home.
