Peter Lell arrived in the United States 27 Dec 1873 and settled first in Frelsburg, Colorado County, TX and then in Lavaca County near Sweet Home. The Hallettsville Herald published 20 Dec 1900 lists the cause of death as suicide "committed in a fit of despondency, he being of a morose dispostion." He left behind his wife Anna Hirshburger Lell and 8 living children, the youngest being 9 years old. According to the family, he was buried in Bennett (Sweet Home) cemetery but no one has been able to confirm it.
