Bill was born on the family farm at Renwer, MB on July 22, 1926, the eighth of 13 children born to Thomas Tarn and Mary Ammer (Jordan) Brown. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Irene (Jacobson), his daughter, Wendy Truscott; his son-in-law, Wayne Deitner; three sisters: Agnes Hunter, Alice Harrison, Eveyln Brown; six brothers: Thomas, Christopher, Robert, Alexander, James and Matthew. Bill is survived by his children: Wayne (Ann) Brown, Midale and their children Shannon, Maple Creek,AB and Brad, Estevan; Wendy's children: Sean (Debbie), Pincher Creek, AB, Michael (Holly), Pincher Creek, AB, Michelle (Jody), Fort Nelson, BC, Linda (Ted), Spruce Grove, AB, and her son Jason (Dawn), Edmonton, AB, Christine Deitner, Fort Nelson, BC, and her children Wayne (Lyndsay), Hudson Hope, BC, Lynette (Neal), Fort Nelson, BC, Nathan (Daryl), Fort Nelson, BC, Jerry, Fort Nelson, BC, Joyce (Jim) MacDonald, Midale and their children: Jamie (Jessie), Estevan, Scott, Midale, Kristie (Jason) Burback, Estevan; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters: Gladys Williams, Brandon, MB, Marion Plaisier, Virden, MB; brother Sam (Jean) Brown, Kelvington, SK as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill attended school in Renwer, MB. From necessity, Bill became a gifted carpenter and skilled mechanic, welder, plumber and electrician. As a teenager, Bill worked on the farm and spent the winter months cutting cordwood. He worked in a gold mine at Red Lake, ON. Bill married Irene (Jacobson) in 1950 and devoted himself to his wife and children. Bill farmed, then in 1954 began a 39 year career in the oil industry. He worked oil construction for three years before taking a job as an operator for Shell Oil. In 1967, Bill purchased a lease operating business in the Midale area that he continued to run until 1993. In his younger days, Bill enjoyed boating, water-skiing, snowmobiling and traveling. He enjoyed old country and gospel music.

Family and friends attended his funeral service on Tuesday, January 4 at 2:00 p.m. from Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Midale; Pastor Cicely McDougall, officiating. Bill was laid to rest at Westphalia Cemetery, Midale.
