Jacob was the sixth child of 14 children born to Hans Christian Andersen and Minnie Helmina Davidsen Paulsen Andersen.

He passed away after a six-week-long illness of typhoid fever. He was 12 years, 1 month, and 29 days old at the time of his death.

Jacob's baby sister, Lillian, passed away exactly one week after Jacob and died from typhoid fever as well although she was only ill for one week. That means she became sick on the day he died. I can only imagine the family's grief and distress. See the dual funeral card on the right.

I don't know if there were any actual photographs of Jacob, but someone drew the attached picture of him in 1909 and it was included in his funeral notice.
