Don was born on February 10, 1927 in Omaha, NE, to Chester Warren and Helen Dorothy (Pickel) Dutcher. He was a 1945 graduate of Omaha Benson High School, where he shined as an All-Star Athlete. Don also was an army veteran of World War II. On June 26, 1948, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Joanne Marilyn Swanson in North Platte, where they made their home. Don earned his bachelors degree in education from Doane College in Crete, NE; masters degree from University of Omaha in Omaha, NE; and masters degree specialist from the former Kearney State College in Kearney, NE. For nearly 42 years, he was employed as a teacher, coach and Administrator with the public middle school in North Platte. He was also a member of First Lutheran Church in North Platte. A Scholarship Fund in Don's name was created to benefit junior high students in North Platte and indeed multiple scholarships have been given. In 2008 Don and Joanne moved to Dallas Center.
