Harold was a veteran of World War II and a member of the VFW. He was employed at the Ogdensburg Journal from 1930 until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of St. John's Church and was in the choir almost all his life.
He was survived by two daughters, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two sisters, and several nieces and nephews. His brother, Rev. Ralph Edward Coonrad died in 1958.
