Leroy R Alford married Martha White about 1855, in Bowie County Texas. His parents are currently unknown.

Nov 1, 1838. The land for this head right was taken in Navarro County TX, So. Fork Richland Creek. This person was listed as head of household and married. his
immigration date was Mar 1836.

OBITUARY OF
LEROY ALFORD
Died very suddently of heart trouble at his home on Thursday at 6 0'clock a.m. July 27, 1899. Mr. L. R. Alford, aged 73 years, six months and 17 days.
Mr. Alford was born in Louisiana January 10, 1826, moved with his parents to Bowie County in 1832 and settled on the Red River at the place known then as Spanish Bluff. After reaching manhood, his parents dying, he moved to Old Boston and in 1853 was married to Miss Martha White and moved about 3 miles southeast of New Boston where he lived until his death. He was a consistant member of the M. E. Church South for nearly 40 years, And his daily walk proved himself an earnest christian, meek and lowly in his determination to serve his God. To know him was to appreciate his worth. In the house he was loving husband, a kind father and a friend of true worth. He was hospitable to all alike. A citizen and a neighbor --one was always better for knowing. He leaves a wife and many relatives and friends to mourn his lost.

As is said in the obituary, his parents were in the Bowie County area, when still under the ownership of Mexico. a Colony of White settlers, in what was once Red River county, part of which later became Bowie Co Texas.
