Margaret Grace Chuhra, 86, of Karns City died at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday at Chicora Medical Center. She had been ill since March 8. Born in East Brady March 3, 1917, she was the daughter of Lewis and Dessa Simpson McClaine. Following the death of her mother in the flu epidemic of 1918, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Grace and Harry McElravy of Karns City. She was a 73-year member of the Karns City United Methodist Church and had been a Sunday school teacher there for 30 years. A 1935 graduate of Fairview Township Karns City High School, she retired as a secretary at Koppers Chemical Co. in Petrolia in 1979. She had been a volunteer at the Butler Veterans Affairs Medical Center for years and enjoyed stockcar racing and her dogs. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Vance (Ruth Lavonne) Wallace of Durham, N. C., and Mrs. Sally Ann Chase of Mentor, Ohio; a son, John Edward Chuhra of Butler; her caregiver, Karen Ryan of Karns City; and a sister, Mrs. Dean (Alice) Lumley of Grove City. Five grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive. Two brothers preceded her in death.
