Lester E. Barrick,, 85, of 213 Steelstown Road, Newville, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, in the Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle.
Born Sept. 9, 1919, in Enola, he was a son of the late John O. and Minnie C. Minnich Barrick.
Mr. Barrick was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served as a medic with the 58th Hospital Train in Australia and the 4th General Hospital. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal; the American Defense Service Medal; the American Theater Service Medal; the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal. He retired from the former Navy Ships Parts Control Center in 1980, where he was a supply clerk. He last attended St. Mary United Methodist Church, Bloserville.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred E. Barrick and Blanche M. Barrick. Surviving are a brother, Dale E. Barrick and a sister, Mary E. Barrick, both of Carlisle; numerous nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, from the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle with the Revs. Randall Zook and Muriel Bronakowski officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of services.
