Son of Otis and Dorothy (Putnam) Abercrombie, he was born in Fitchburg September 3, 1836, from which town his parents soon moved to Lunenburg.
He entered Harvard University in 1854 and after graduation studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1861. He went West and resided some time in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Gunnison, Colorado, but returned to Lunenburg in 1885 where he resided until his death.
He was an intelligent, studious man, and a pleasant, genial companion, and was interested in and well posted on historical matters. He was one of the trustees of the Lunenburg public library, in which he was much interested and to which he gave much valuable assistance. He was one of the trustees of the Worcester North Savings Institution in this city and was made a member of our society, February 15, 1897.
