Funeral services for Anna M Aamodt, 90 of Leland, were held Sept. 8 at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Leland with the Rev. Milo Lee officiating. Burial was at Forest Home cemetery in Leland. Miss Aamodt died Sept. 5 at an Albert Lea hospital. Anna Matilda Aamodt, a daughter of Amborose and Anlaug (Ellefson ) Aamodt, was born on the home farm near Leland Jan. 25,1885. She attended the local school and then worked for a time at Waldorf College and other places in Forest City. She went to Chicago and took up dressmaking and the drafting of patterns at Valentine School of DressMaking. Anna became an expert dress-maker and also received many calls to model ladies' suits and other clothes. Her sister, Julia, was with her during much of the time that she was in Chicago. Anna and Julia opened a dress-making shop in Mason City which they operated for few years. After Julia went to St. Paul to become a practical nurse, Anna went back to Chicago and worked as a dress-maker. In all, she spent about twenty years in Chicago. Her mother's failing health and the work on the farm brought Anna back, to the home farm where she continued to live until December,1969 when she entered lake Mills Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and three sisters. She is survived by one sister, Marie Aamodt, of Leland and several cousins.
