|Death: ||Aug., 1949|
John Byron Alyea was the son of Henry F. Alyea and Catherine (Moon) Alyea, of Ameliasburgh, Prince Edward Co, Ontario, Canada.
According to his grandson, Bill Alyea, of Ludington MI, John B. Alyea financed the trip to bring his family to Michigan by selling Canadian Christmas trees.
While living in Grand Rapids John and his wife attended a large evangelical meeting, led by the Rev. Mel Trotter. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and began changing the direction of his life. Bill said he made some dramatic improvements in his life-style, but could still be pretty difficult at times.
John's younger brother, Lyman Louis Alyea also came to Michigan and married Emma L. Emmorey (sister to his wife, Minnie,) at Grand Rapids, MI in 1892.
