"Mrs. Elizabeth Stevens, Aged 80 Years, Dies Friday. Funeral Today.

Friday night the midnight hour witnessed the passing from the world of Mrs. Elizabeth Stevens at the advanced age of eighty years.
Mrs. Stevens was the widow of H.P. Stevens, one of the old time showmen of this country. He died in 1870, and was one of the most widely known showmen and circus performers in the business at the time of his death, he having performed in all parts of the world in the course of his professional career.
As the wife of Mr. Stevens, as a circus performer of note herself, and as the progenitor of many performers, well and widely known in the circus world at this time, Mrs. Stevens' death will be ill news to many people interested or engaged in the show business in all parts of the world. Mr. Stevens was buried on the island of Madagascar.
Among the descendants of the aged Mrs. Stevens are some of the most famous and well known people in the circus and show world of today. Her son, William O'Dale Stevens, is an able performer himself and the husband of the famous equestrian queen, known in circus life as Linda Jeal.
Another son was James Stevens, the great European rider, who was killed while doing a daring equestrian act at London, Eng, in 1878. A grandson, Alec Herbert [referring to Alec Todd of the Flying Herberts], is now on his way to this country from New Zealand, having just completed a three years engagement in that part of the world as a member of the Herbert troupe of aerial performers, formerlly with the Barnum and Baily shows.
Amoung the women descendants of Mrs. Stevens are Julia Stevens, celebrated as La Petite Julia, the Yankee Belle; mother of Dallie Julian; the wife of Fred Ledgett, the latter couple having just closed a successful engagement to the Hippodrome in New York, and formerly with the Barnum and Baily shows.
The funeral will be held this afternoon from the residence of Mrs. F. Herold, 606 Howard Avenue, at 2:30 o'clock, with funeral services at 3 o'clock at St. Patrick's Catholic church. Burial will be made at St. Michael's cemetery."
