These are the things we do know about Daniel, who was not married to this Rachel.
1. He was a boat builder by trade and did freighting and carpentry & lived in Cumberland, Greene Co., PA.
2. He was in the Cumberland area before 1800 (having come from Maryland) because of his entry in the Baptist Church records of Muddy Creek in Greene Co., PA. as being deceased in 1799 and his estate inventory was in 1804 in that same county.
3. He is in the Baptist Church records of Muddy Creek, where he and his father helped build the church meeting house before 1795.
4. Daniel & his wife had children after 1784/85 because of Rachel's proximity to Daniel's parents until she died; she is on 1800 Cumberland, Green Co., PA. census where she is enumerated as head of household and 6 children are accounted for by their age: William, Sarah, Richard, Daniel Jr., Mary and Levi.
5. Daniel's wife, Rachel, is not found on the 1830 census and has already died. The Rachel of this memorial died in 1831.
6. Lastly, there was no reason for Rachel, Daniel's wife, to be buried in Monongalia, VA. ; she had no family there.
So who this Rachel on this memorial is is not known. More research would need to be done in Monongalia County, Virginia. Contributor: Diane Gravlee (47083760) •
