Marie Elen Olsdtr Sandve came to the States at the age of 7 in 1884 with her parents: Ole Mikal Ellingsen Sandve and Eli Malena Oldsdater Melstokke along with her grandparents on her dad's side: Elling Jakobsen Sandve who died somewhere between New York and Texas and Bertha Moline Mikkeldtr-Sandve who died in Bosque County, Texes. Marie Elen's grandparents on her mama's side also made this trip: Ole Halvorsen Melstokke who died somewhere along the way to Texas and Malene Pederson Sandnå-Melstokke who died at sea. At some point the remaining family decided to leave Texas and head on up to Tioga, North Dakota -- better weather and other people from Karmøy, Rogaland, Norway where she and her folks came. Marie's mom, Eli Malena, gave birth to brother Simon Sandve 04 Oct 1888 in Sharon, Steele, North Dakota. Unfortunately, her mama died due to complications of child birth. One of the people near the Tioga area who came from Karmøy, Norway was Ole Hansen Snortland whom Marie married in 01 Sep 1898. Ole and Marie had four children together: Edward, Hans, Mina and Ellen. Unfortunately, Ole died in 1906 due to appendicitis. The family was able to get a doctor to come out to the farm. The doctor attempted an appendectomy on the kitchen table but Ole died. No penicillin then.
Marie then married Ole Bern Olson 25 Jul 1908. They had two children together: Bernice and John Olson. O.B. Olson died around 1923.
