Max Allen Bristow, 73, of Springfield, passed away at 11:40 p.m. February 16, 2006, at St. John's Regional Health Center surrounded by family. Mr. Bristow was born June 28, 1932, in Fair Grove, Mo., to J.E. and Erna Bristow. Max was a master carpenter and business owner. He was a member of Gideons International and was a lay renewal coordinator. Mr. Bristow was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School Teacher. Max accepted the Lord at the age of 12 and faithfully served the Lord throughout his life by participating in mission trips and volunteering his carpentry skills to serve others. Max was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Kay, of the home; one son, Lewis Rex Bristow and wife, Reba, of Springfield; one daughter, Beth Bristow Vaughan and husband, Dennis, of Indianapolis, Ind.; four grandchildren, Tim Bristow and wife, Renee, of Douglasville, Ga., Jennifer Terry, of Fair Grove, Mo., Logan and Lucas Vaughan, both of Indianapolis, Ind.; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Martha Bristow Wade and husband, Raymond, of Parkton, N.C.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, February 20, 2006, at First Baptist Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m. today, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International or the River Bluff Building Fund at First Baptist Church of Springfield.
