Willie Jay Adams, 88, of Crab Orchard, died Friday, August 9, 1996 at the Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford. A native of Lincoln County, he was born March 26, 1908 to the late George Mack Adams and America Elizabeth Noakes Adams. He was a retired farmer, a member of Pine Grove Church of Christ and the widower of Myrtle J. Hines Adams. One daughter, Betty Ann Adams, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include six sons, James Adams and Clifford Adams of Crab Orchard, Kenneth Adams of Liberty, Bobby Adams of Cincinnati, OH., Earl Adams of Frankfort and Billy Adams of Knoxville, TN.; two daughters, Lulu Howard of Perryville and Bertha Cahill of Sarasoto, FL.; one sister, Eunice Dellie Spoonamore of Crab Orchard; 20 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 12 at the Fox Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Estes officiating. Burial was in Adams Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Shane Adams, Clifton Collins Adams, Robert Adams, Earl William Adams, Steven Hoeck, Frank Hoeck and Edward Howard, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Freeman Caldwell, Truman Bastin, Rue Reynolds and Robbie Martin. Fox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
