Birth: Nov., 1866
Jefferson County
Ohio, USA
Death: Dec. 14, 1939
Charles Mix County
South Dakota, USA

Bernie Carr was born in Smithfield, Ohio, in 1866, the son of Samuel Price (S.P.) and Eliza Hall Carr. He came West with his family as a young man and made his home for some time in the Coin, Iowa, area before coming to South Dakota. He was associated with his brother, John (Jack) in the stock and butcher business for forty years, the last fifteen of which were spent in Wagner where the two brothers operated the City Meat Market. Mr. Carr was a quiet unassuming man of few words, a man of strict business integrity upon whose word one could depend. In his business dealing he was fair and just and expected the same fair play from his fellow men. He never married.
Surviving him are five brothers: S.P. Carr of Egan; H. H. Carr of Brookings; Abe Carr of Cope, Colorado; D. D. Carr of Eugene, Oregon; and John Carr of Wagner, who will carry on the business as before. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Stone of Story, Wyoming; and Clara Stade of Stickney, South Dakota.
