HOPKINTON - Bruce G. Ackerman, 56, of 480 Smithfield Road, Nasonville, R.I., formerly of Hopkinton, died yesterday in his home after a long illness.
He leaves his wife, Vivian E. (Patterson) Ackerman; two sons, Byron R. Ackerman of Blackstone and Owen L. Ackerman of Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. Ackerman observed their 30th wedding anniversary Sept. 10. He was born in Worcester, son of Guy and Gladys M. (Saunders) Ackerman, and lived here many years before moving to Nasonville in 1985.
Mr. Ackerman was a draftsman for nine years at Moisture Systems Corp. here. He previously worked at Dennison Mfg. Co. in Framingham.
He served for many years in the Air Force Reserve.
He was a member of Douglas United Methodist Church in East Douglas, the Northeast Rabbit Growers Association in Brooklyn, Conn., and Nutmeg Chapter, Studebaker Drivers Club, in Connecticut.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Douglas United Methodist Church, Main Street, East Douglas. The Rev. Twilla Broadway will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Calling hours at Jackman Funeral Home, 7 Mechanic St., East Douglas, are 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made instead to Douglas United Methodist Church, Main Street, East Douglas, 01516.
