Martha was of the Presbyterian faith.
Martha Adda White married Edward Joshua Bonsall on April 25,1894, at Oakhill, Pa., at the home of her Parents, George and Emma White. Martha read to her Children, CURFEW MUST NOT RING TONIGHT by Rose Hartwick Thorpe (1850-1939)and MEASURUNG THE BABY by Emma Alice Browne.
Martha died one day before her Wedding Anniversary.
As told me by my Grandmother, Mary Bonsall Borland:My Great Grandmother, Martha Adda White, was burning leaves, when her "wrapper" caught fire. Husband,Edward threw water on the flames, then told Daughter, Mary, to get a rug off the porch, and he rolled Martha on the ground, to put the flames out. Martha suffered burns to her left side and hand, and was treated at home for about a week, with linseed oil, limewater, and bandages, but when she did not improve, she was taken to Coatesville Hospital,Coatesville, Pa. Edward was told to bring clothes for Martha's discharge, but she died 4-24-1910. The Hospital claimed she had gangrene, but the undertaker said he saw no evidence of gangrene.
