Emerita, a Colorado native and descendant of some of the first Colorado settlers was born in San Luis, CO.
A lifelong educator, she taught Kindergarten through College level classes in Colorado Springs and Guam during her 30 years as a teacher. Most recently her biggest accomplishments were her published, national award winning children's books.
Emerita is survived by her husband: Kent Anderson; daughter: Megan Githens (Brad Githens): 3 grandchildren: 4 sisters: Vikki Hinojos, Tish Herrera, Diana Cortez, Agnes Rivera; and brother: Felix Romero.
Memorial services are planned for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. A reception will follow the services and will be held at the Olympian Plaza Reception and Event Center, 975 South Union Boulevard.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 825 East Pikes Peak Avenue, #600, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80903.
