Andrew was my great grand Uncle, a younger brother to my g.gr.mother Frances Armstrong Mays. Andrew was born in Faulkner Co. AR, I believe, in what was called the California township, his death cert. has him born in Conway, AR which was in Faulkner Co. I also found his middle name to be spelled Wallas and I think this came from his gr.son Ray. I have wondered if this name came from someone in our family tree, so far I've found no Wallas or Wallace that connect to our Armstrong's or Bolin's.
Andrew's parents Matthew K. and Lenora Bolin Armstrong migrated to Faulkner Co. AR in the late 1870s from Giles Co. TN. I have wondered many times why they migrated to Arkansas at that time, did the Gold Rush fever strike Matthew Armstrong. Andrew's mother was born in Giles Co. TN and his father was born in Dekalb Co. AL.
I've been researching their Armstrong family tree for almost 15 yrs. now. Andrew's mother Martha Lenora Bolin Armstrong died in 1888 in Faulkner Co. AR and his father married again to an Elizabeth Fielder. So I'm sure Elizabeth did the major raising of him, she died sometime in the early 1900s in Faulkner Co. AR so both of his mother's are buried in Faulkner Co. AR.
After Elizabeth Fielder Armstrong's death our Armstrong's all moved to Shelby Co. TN close to the Tipton Co. TN line, they all mostly settled in the Kerrville, TN area. Andrew's Dad Matthew married his mother's younger sister, Margaret Bolin Jackson, in Jan. 1910 in Tipton Co. TN...
Andrew died in the Oakville Sanatorium in Oakville, Shelby Co. TN of pulmonary TB. There must have been an epidemic going on at that time in the Memphis area for I've found many in my family tree died of TB in that time period in the Memphis area.
Andrew married Lena Pearl Wooley, he had children Lester Matthew, Robert Fleming, Andrew, Martha, Earl and Dolly M. Armstrong that I know about from the census records. I'm still working on your tree Andrew and am hoping someone will have pics of you and wife and children. God Bless you and those from you, Kay.
