Allie Marie Cook, 67, was the daughter of the late James and Evva Shelton. She was born in Slatyfork on December 15, 1944, and passed away May 15, 2012, after longtime residency and a full, happy life in Summersville.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, Thomas Grant Cook; and a sister, Regina Rhea.

Allie was a retired partner in business with her husband at Anglers Roost Sport Shop, Inc., and subsequently enjoyed employment at Lowe's, where she had great affection for her co-workers. She was a member of Summersville Baptist Church, and had been active in the community for many years. She is remembered proudly by her family and friends as being an accomplished homemaker who was skilled in the arts of cooking and various kinds of needlework. Allie was exceptionally kind and generous to others, who were the happy recipients of these gifts. Allie was a good friend, and a mother to many!

Her legacy of adoring family members who have survived her include her twin sister and best friend, Aileen (Leanie) Vass and husband, Edward, of West Virginia; daughter, Diana Paige Skaggs and husband, Doug, of South Carolina; two sons, Lt. Col. Thomas Grant Cook II and wife, Tammy, of West Virginia and David Wray Vernon Cook and wife, Melissa, of West Virginia; her third son, her nephew, Christopher Michael Cook and wife, Sherry, also of West Virginia; grandchildren include Zachary Michael Skaggs, Rachael Allison Skaggs, Sydney Grace Wiley, Virginia Marie Cook, Morgan Noelle Cook, Spencer Wray Hillsman Cook; and great-grandchild, Ethan Brock Skaggs. Also, grandchildren and great-nephews and great-niece, Jaymeson Michael Cook, Hayden Alexander Cook and BrookJynn May Cook.

Allie was our devoted family matriarch who believed in the power of love and in Christ. One of her favorite Bible verses was Psalms 121: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help; my help cometh from the Lord, which made Heaven and Earth."

Her funeral service was conducted May 19th, at Waters Funeral Chapel, Summersville, WV with Pastor Dana Gatewood officiating. Graveside service followed in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hillsboro, WV where she was laid to rest beside her husband, Thomas Grant Cook.
