Married in Gretna Green,Scotland in 1843 to Margaret Wolfenden and is the father of two boys and one girl who died in infancy.He heard the gospel message of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the fall of 1852 and accepted it.Robert, Margaret,and two sons Tom and Abram made the trip to America.He crossed the plains with the family and settled in St.George,Utah.He was a hatter in England by trade.He brought the large heavy flat irons with him.The hats were made of sheep's wool.Later moved to Beaver,Utah.Later Margaret and him moved to be with Francis in St.George.During the winter he and Frances worked in the St.George Temple.He assisted on the farm and with only a few days of illness passed away there.
