Mary Elizabeth Cresswell was born to James Cresswell in 1828 near London, Middlesex, England. She married Frederick Cole in 1852 and together they immigrated to the USA. First they went to Chicago, Illinois where Fred died in 1954 from Cholera. One daughter was born of this first marriage, Emily Carolina Cole. Married again to George Washington Reed, moving from Chicago to Minnesota to Iowa, Mary raised several children, working hard all her life and was an honorable person.
