Johanna Agnes Aardal, 99, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Four Seasons Convalescent Home in North Hollywood, Calif. She was a former resident of Matlock.
She was born on Aug. 8, 1912, in Coalhurst, Canada to Dingeman and Johanna Tack. The family moved to Matlock in 1920.
She attended Mary M. Knight School. She married Edwin Aardal on July 5, 1935, in Shelton and moved to North Hollywood, California, where he worked for Walt Disney Studios.
She was an accomplished china painter and oil painter. She was a member of the Valley Porcelain Artists Association. She is survived by her sister Agnes Stangland of Aberdeen; sons Gary Edwin Aardal and his wife, Carol, of Lynnwood and John Duane Aardal of North Hollywood, Calif; granddaughter Holly Pattern of Poulsbo; greatgrandchildren Spencer Kenan and Milan Kenan both of Poulsbo and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother John Tack and sister Mary Kent and her husband, Edwin.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Hope Chapel in Shelton and she will be interned at Shelton Memorial Cemetery.
