George S. Hoffman, Jr of Waynesboro was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday May 16, 2015 at the Penn State Milton Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pennsylvania.
Born November 28, 1947 in Waynesboro he was the son of Mary Jane (Peiffer) Hoffman and the late George S. Hoffman.
He was a 1965 graduate of Waynesboro Area Sr. High School.
After high school he served in the military reserves and eventually enlisted in the US Air Force where he served for 11 years discharging at the rank of Sr. Staff Sergeant. He served during the Vietnam Conflict.
He continued to work for the US Government at Letter Kenny Army Depot in electronic Measurement and Equipment mechanic.
He loved fishing, and both model and big trains as well as his dogs.
He was a lifelong member and previous Commander of the VFW, McLauglin Post 695 Waynesboro; American Legion Post 15, Waynesboro; Moose Lodge; Owls Club, Eagles Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
In addition to his mother he is survived by two daughters Mary Ann Tureson and her husband Larry of Fairfax Station, Virginia; Bobbi Jo Hoffman and her partner Theresa Royal of Waynesboro; grandchildren Michael Anthony Sowell Testa of Geneseo of New York and Kennedy Ann Tereson of Fairfax Station, Virginia; Sister Judith A. Hoffman of Springfield, Virginia; and brother Jimmy D. Hoffman of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; nieces and nephews Brian Hoffman, Heather Hoffman and Andrew Hoffman.
Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11 AM at the Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Inc. Interment with Full Military Honors by the VFW Nitterhouse Post, Chambersburg Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to service.
The family has entrusted Mr. Hoffman's care to the independent Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Inc.
