MILTON-FREEWATER — Donald Weis, 79, of Vancouver, Wash., formerly of Milton-Freewater, died March 31, 2011, in Vancouver. Services will be held Monday, April 11 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home. Concluding services and interment will follow in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery.
Mr. Weis was born April 6, 1931, in Milton to Alfred and Frances (White) Weis. He attended local schools and graduated from McLoughlin Union High School. While in high school, he was the president of the senior class and was involved in sports. He held the state record for the discus throw for almost 30 years. He later attended Pacific College on a football scholarship.
He married Adeline "Addie" Marie Parks in Milton-Freewater. He worked for the city of Milton-Freewater from 1956-66, and then worked for SAIF from 1968-76 teaching and developing new safety techniques. From 1977-80, they lived in Hermiston, where he worked for Umatilla Electric Co-Op and later for Ruralite Services, which was based in Forest Grove. He retired in 1991.
He loved fishing, arrowhead hunting, rock hunting and turning rough rock into beautiful jewelry, and he also grew to love to play golf.
Mr. Weis is survied by his wife Addie of Vancouver; three sons, Jerry Weis of Vancouver, Terry Weis of Portland and Barry Weis of Milton-Freewater; daughter Gina Joye of Salem; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchilden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister who died shortly after birth, Dolores Weis.

I cant belive its been a year, i swear its as if i saw you yesterday. If i could visit you i would bring you a boquet of red carnations and daffodils. I hope that wherever you are your livin it up. We love you and miss you, so incredibly much.|
