Birth: Mar. 15, 1913
Death: Nov. 18, 1988

This is an article that was printed in the "Wayne County News", special edition, Wednesday, March 30, 2005.

Strengthford Played a big role in Waller's life, family, By Lois Waller McLain, daughter of John A. Waller.

Born on March 15, 1913, and proud to be a part of the Strengthford community, Mr. Waller was the son of Nathaniel "Bud" and Martha Copeland Waller.

He lived all his life, except for the war years, in Wayne County, and he proudly served his country in World War II from 1940 to Nov. 16, 1945, serving as a medical detachment for the 18th Tank Battalion. In 1946, he purchased 40 acres of land one mile west of Strengthford, which he farmed to feed his family. Mr. and Mrs. Waller raised five children- Jerry, Judson, Lois, Clifford and Max.In 1963, Mr. Waller became employed at Ingalls Shipyard in Pascagoula. Due to layoffs, Waller would farm, raise cattle and hogs and be a chicken house producer, along with picking up odd jobs.

In 1957 Mr. and Mrs. Waller were employees of Strengthford School, he as a bus driver and she as a lunchroom worker. Retired from Ingalls in 1970, Waller "worked around the house", as he would say, until his health failed him. Preceded in death by a son, Judson Daniel Waller; on Dec. 7, 1985, Mr. Waller died on Nov. 18, 1988, and was buried at Strengthford Assembly of God Church.

He leaves behind his wife, four children, 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren to remember him and the many memories he shared with them of his love for the Strengthford community.

On May 15, 2004, former students of the school held their first reunion. Since then a historical marker has been placed, and plans for the Second Reunion are being planned, which will be held on May 21.
