Aunt Nora was born to Lucian Nathaniel Jackman and his 2nd wife, Nora Maude Brown. A few days after Baby Nora's birth, her mother died, 29 Jul 1907. Nora was named after her mother; raised in Barren County, attending Chestnut Grove school. Nora's family included her nine half-siblings from Lucian's 1st wife who died in 1905, Almetie Bettie Chapman. Nora married Meade Harvel Bishop. From this union came two sons; also a daughter who died shortly after a premature birth. A tragic accident claimed the life of Nora while on a trip w/her family. She died in a West Virginia hospital from injuries sustained when, as a pedestrian, she was struck by a car. She was returned to Glasgow for interment. Nora was well-known, well-liked and had many friends. She was an employee of District Six State Tuberculosis Hospital in Glasgow, and a member of Mount Tabor Baptist Church. She had five grand-children; nieces and nephews. Aunt Nora had a quick smile and a loving spirit; a precious soul.
