Thomas Allison Brown was the first born son of Thomas H. and Mary A. P (Frizzell) Brown and was born in 1861 in Glenwood, Mills, Iowa. He had two younger brothers, Samuel P., who was born 2 years later and (Carlisle) Lyle Edwin born about 1864 or 1865, before the untimely death of his mother in 1865. Mr. Thomas H. Brown then married Mary Matilda Turner and the couple raised these three boys and had more children, Walter, Maud, Grace, Clyde, Clara, Harriet (Hattie), and Nellie Gertrude.

Thomas Allison Brown was a veteran of the Spanish American War serving in Co C of the 51st Iowa Regiment. He remained single and was a brick mason by trade. He passed away in 1947 and was buried in the Glenwood Cemetery next to his mother and brother Samuel who had both preceded him in death.



Thomas Allison Brown, son of Thomas H. and Mary Ann Frizell Brown, was born Nov. 15, 1861 at Glenwood, Iowa and departed from this life at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 11 days at the Soldier's Home at Marshalltown, Iowa.

He lived all his life in Glenwood and was a brick mason and plasterer by trade. Many buildings around the square are standing today as a monument of his skill.

He was a Spanish American Veteran belonging to Co. C of the 51st Iowa Infantry. He was a member of the United Spanish War Veterans in Council Bluffs.

He is survived by three sisters; Nellie and Hattie Brown of Glenwood and Mrs. Grace Pelham of Crab Orchard, Nebr.; eleven nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services were held on Tuesday, April 29, from the James Chapel with the Rev. J. W. Walker officiating.

Casket bearers were Paul Sulhoff, Emer Hatcher, Jess Hunter, Chris Renschler, Frank Logan and L. C. Dean.

Flower bearers were Pearl Tubbs, Josephine Edwards, and Frances Logan.

Music was furnished by William C. Lugsch and Miss Mary Evelyn Logan.

Military services were held at the Glenwood cemetery with the Harvey T. Rimel Post No. 141 in charge.
