Harold E. Altemose

Harold E. Altemose, 90, of Saylorsburg R.R. 1, died Monday in his home. He was the husband of Pearl (Kresge) Altemose at home. They had celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in November.
Born in Sciota, he was a son of the late Alvin and Emma (Bender) Altemose.
He had been a dairy farmer for more than 40 years before retiring in 1967. He had also hauled milk from the local farms to the dairies for more than 40 years. He had also worked for Worthington Mowers in Stroudsburg for 15 years. After retiring from farming, he worked as a custodian at Chemical Leaman Tank Lines for six years and at Pocono Central Catholic High School in Cresco for five years.
He was a member of Mt. Eaton Church in Saylorsburg where he had belonged since 1920. He was a former deacon of the church and had sung in the church choir. He also had played the violin in the Plainfield Lutheran Church Orchestra.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, LeRoy Altemose of Saylorsburg R.R. 1 and Clair Altemose of Nazareth; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Forest Altemose.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday from Mt. Eaton Church in Saylorsburg with the Rev. Thomas Richards officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Eaton Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service from the church.
