Alvina was the daughter of Alvin Sylvanus and Emma Frances (Boutell) Colson. She was born in Lapeer, Mayfield, Michigan on Oct. 10, 1879 and was married to Horace Howell on Jun. 27, 1893. They were the parents of 7 children, George Henry, Robert Francis, Horace (Dutch), Frank Ralph, Violet Ethel, Lillian M. and Ernest Eugene, all of whom were still living upon her death. She was preceded in death by all 3 of her husbands, Horace (1922), George Langley (married in 1926 & listed as a widow on the 1930 census), and Arthur Burbank who died prior to the 1940 census at which time she was living with her youngest son, Ernest, and his young family.
