Dr. Nelyne Allan, who was born on August 13, 1926, to Thomas and Edna Henry, in Post, Texas, passed away on Thursday, July 10, 2014. Nelyne and her family moved to Panama City when she was a junior in high school. She graduated from Bay High School where she met Harry Allan. Nelyne and Harry had one daughter, Susan.

Nelyne completed a bachelor's degree in art from Florida State University and continued her education, earning a master's degree and a doctorate of art education from the University of Georgia. Nelyne worked as an art teacher in Bay County, before becoming the county art supervisor. She also taught for the Walton County Schools in Georgia, and worked for the University of Georgia. After retiring, Nelyne taught art classes to older adults in Athens, Ga., and in Panama City.

Nelyne is survived by her daughter, Susan, son-in-law, Larry White, and grandsons, Allan and Ben Galis.

Nelyne received outstanding care at Summer's Landing, Lisenby on Lake Caroline and Covenant Hospice. Many special thanks to Dr. Richard Watson, Dr. Mubarak, Dr. Nunez, Dr. Hyatt and Ms. Ashley DeVries.

Visitation will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, July 11 from 6-7:30 p.m.

Rather than sending flowers, contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1200, Panama City, FL 32402, First Presbyterian Church, 100 E 7th Street, Panama City, FL 32401, Covenant Hospice, 107 W 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405 or to the donor's choice of charity.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
