He retired after 47 years in the paper industry. He moved from Florida to Monticello in 1968 with the paper industry St. Regis, now known as Georgia Pacific, where he was also a member of the catfish cooking team. He was a member of Monticello Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors are his wife, Lytress Pierce Allen of Monticello; his daughter, Becky Allen of Madison; his sons, Gary Allen and his wife, Amanda, of Monticello, David Allen of Navarre, Fla., Creig Allen and his wife, Kathy of Oveido, Fla.; his sister, Mary Frances Franks of Zachary, La.; his six grandchildren, Sterling and Channing Allen, Joey and Matt Pradillo, Christy Baxter and Haleigh Abraham.
