Mrs. Mary Louisa Bales, 97, of Purdin, died Sunday at Pershing Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bales will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Purdin Methodist Church with Pastor Robert M. Santry and the Rev. Larry Linville officiating, with burial in the Purdin Cemetery. Friends may call at the Wrights Funeral Home in Linneus until 11 a.m. Tuesday when the body will be moved to the church where friends may call until the hour of service.

Mrs. Bales was born Dec. 15, 1872 near Humphreys, the daughter of Jacob M. and Eunice McGee Dearing. On Jan 4, 1891, she was married to William R. Bales and he preceded her in death Sept. 11, 1942.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Eunice Blackburn, Purdin, and Mrs. Zura Downing, Brookfield; five grandchildren 19 great-grandchildren. She was the last of her family having been preceeded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

She was a member of the Purdin Methodist Church.
