North Lanarkshire, Scotland
|Death: ||Mar. 3, 1900|
Died-- On Saturday evening, at the home of her daughter Mrs. R. T. Doud, 305 W. Wabasha St., after a severe illness of two months, Mrs. Mary Mitchell Muir.
The departed was born in Airdrie, Scotland, in 1832, and at the age of 16 was married to Thomas Muir. It was immediately after their marriage that they embarked for America, going directly to Milwaukee, where they resided upwards of twenty years, having located in Winona some thirty years ago. Since the death of her husband in 1886, Mrs. Muir made her home with her daughter, Mrs. R. T. Doud.
The children who survive her are Mr. Archie Muir of March, Wis.; Mrs. C. A. Allen of Independence, Wis.(sic); Mr. Alex Muir, Grand Rapids, Wis.; Mrs. R. T. Doud of this city. Mrs. Muir was a woman of pronounced characteristics. Positive in her convictions, and like a true representative of the Scottish race, ever ready to condemn the wrong and maintain the right. She was a woman of remarkable energy and great industry, who believed in no idle hours. She was generous in thought, noble in action and charitable to all. She was eminently domestic in her nature, being immeasurably endowed with those excellent qualities of heart and mind that adorn the home and fireside - a true wife, a fond mother and a steadfast friend.
The funeral services will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon at 2 o'clock, at the residence of Mr. R. T. Doud, 305 West Wabasha Street.
