Lillie May Snyder, was born 19 October 1905 in Reading, Berks County, Pennsylvania where her father was working for the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad. Her parents were Spanish American War veteran, Timothy Grant Snyder, and his wife, Alice (Blake) Snyder, and she was their first born.
A native of Ashland in Schuylkill County, Timothy Grant Snyder (1876-1925) had served aboard Admiral Dewey's flagship prior to receiving an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps. The second oldest surviving son of Civil War veteran, Timothy Matthias Snyder (1840-1889), and his wife, Catharine (Boyer) Snyder (1850-1918), he was the next youngest sibling to John Hartranft Snyder (1873-1944), one of the co-founders of the Lavelle Telephone and Telegraph Company.
Timothy, Alice, and daughter, Lillie May, lived near Tim's mother, and Tim's youngest brother, William, and their youngest surviving sister, Lillie May Snyder (1887-1956). Tim's daughter was his sister's namesake.
Lillie May, the elder (daughter of TMS), grew up to be a nurse and a governess to the family of a prominent dentist in Reading, Pennsylvania.
Sadly, the younger Lillie May (daughter of TGS) did not survive beyond her toddler years. According to her death certificate, she passed away the morning of February 4, 1907 after experiencing convulsions, and is interred near her parents at St. Mark's in Allentown.
